The state of the art of health information policy in the Americas

Abstract

Reviews the literature on health information policy in Latin America, analyzing the results of lessons learned and the policies were unsuccessful. Includes an account of the historical memory of the regional and international initiatives to implement collective policies of health information-focused "access to information to achieve equity in health." Concludes with the WHO recommendations on the subject.

Flor Elisa Trillo Tinoco

Coordinadora del Centro de Gestión del Conocimiento de la Representación de la OPS/OMS en México. En el ámbito académico, es egresada de la Licenciatura en Bibliotecología de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UNAM, becaria del Programa Doctoral Cooperativo Iberoamericano de “Bibliotecología y Documentación Científica” de la Universidad de Granada, España. Ha colaborado en varias agencias de Naciones Unidas y a través de redes nacionales y estatales, fomentando la cultura de la información y promoviendo la gestión de la información y del conocimiento.
